Please join the Budget Advocates at City Hall for Neighborhood Council Budget Day Saturday, June 21, 2025. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. with breakfast and networking starting at 7:30. This event is free and open to the public. Eventbrite registration is available at tiny.cc/BudgetDay25.
The plenary session includes addresses from Mayor Karen Bass, City Controller Kenneth Mejia, City Administrative Office Matt Szabo, City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, City Council Budget and Finance Committee Chair Katy Yaroslavsky, Department of Neighborhood Empowerment General Manager Carmen Chang, and Board of Neighborhood Commissioners President Joy Atkinson.
Following the keynotes there will be a panel discussion on the topic “City Services: Budgetary Transparency and Accountability.” LAist (FM 89.3) Civics and Democracy reporter Frank Stoltze will moderate a panel that will include CEO of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation Stephen Cheung, Chief Deputy Controller Rick Cole, Assistant City Administrative Officer Ben Ceja, and Former General Manager of Service Employees International Union Local 347 Julie Butcher.
