- This is the Statewide Direct Primary Election, which includes the City of Los Angeles Primary Nominating Election

- June 2nd, 2026
Is the LA Mayor race on this ballot?
- Yes. Los Angeles voters will vote for Mayor in this election
- This election determines:
- Whether a candidate wins outright, or
- Which two candidates advance to the November runoff
What else is on my ballot?
In addition to the Mayor’s race, your ballot may include:
- Los Angeles City Council races (multiple districts)
- Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board seats
- Local and county measures
How does the Mayor election work?
- The Mayor’s race is nonpartisan (no party labels)
- All candidates appear on the same ballot
- If a candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, they are elected Mayor
- If no candidate reaches 50%, the top two candidates advance to the November General Election
Do I need to be affiliated with a political party to vote?
- No. All registered voters can vote in the Mayor’s race regardless of party affiliation
How can I vote?
📬 Vote by Mail
- Every registered voter will receive a ballot by mail (starting early May)
- Return your ballot by:
- Mail (must be postmarked by June 2)
- Ballot drop box
- Vote center
🏫 Vote in Person
- Vote at a vote center:
- Some locations open up to 10 days before Election Day
- Others open closer to Election Day
Can I still vote if I’m not registered?
- Yes. you can register and vote on the same day at a vote center

- Yes. You may bring someone you trust to assist you
- They cannot be your employer or union representative
What if I make a mistake on my ballot?
- You can request a replacement ballot
- Or vote in person at a vote center
