Standing and Ad Hoc Committees

If you live or work in West Adams, we welcome you to get involved! Learn more about our standing or ad hoc committees and if you’re interested in becoming a committee member, please reach out to the committee chair (listed below).

The Executive Committee meets to discuss administrative and operational issues pertaining to the West Adams Neighborhood Council. This Committee also meets to set agendas for the monthly board meetings.

Meetings are scheduled as needed.

The Rules Committee meetings to discuss any amendments to the by-laws and standing rules of the West Adams Neighborhood Council.

Meetings are scheduled as needed.

The Youth & Education Committee works on any and all issues pertaining to education and the youth. This committee also serves as the primary West Adams Neighborhood Council liaison to education and youth stakeholders with the Los Angeles Unified School District, City of Los Angeles, and any businesses or organizations that work in the fields of education and youth development.

Meetings are quarterly and as needed.

The Finance Committee oversees the budget of the West Adams Neighborhood Council and reviews all projects and proposals, such as Neighborhood Purpose Grants.

Meetings are the 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 6:30pm and as needed.

The Land Use Committee is responsible for reviewing all proposed and in-progress developments within the West Adams Neighborhood Council’s boundaries. This committee also serves as the West Adams Neighborhood Council’s liaison to the City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning as well as the Planning and Land Use Management Committee of the Los Angeles City Council.

Meetings are the 2nd Thursdays of each month at 6:00pm and as needed.

The Outreach Committee is responsible for all digital outreach and communications for the West Adams Neighborhood Council, including, but not limited to management of social media accounts (Facebook, Nextdoor), creation and distribution of newsletters, website maintenance, event marketing, etc.

Meetings are the 1st Mondays of each month at 6:00pm and as needed.

The Public Safety Committee is responsible for all issues pertaining to public health (including the COVID-19 pandemic), environment, public safety, law enforcement, social justice, and transportation.

Meetings are 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm and as needed.

The Ad Hoc Homeless Committee is responsible for all issues pertaining to the unhoused, homelessness, affordable housing, and rent control. Unlike standing committees which are permanent, this committee was created by the West Adams Neighborhood Council for a defined period of time.

Meetings are quarterly and as needed.

The Ad Hoc Arts and Culture Committee is responsible for all issues pertaining to the arts and culture. Unlike standing committees which are permanent, this committee was created by the West Adams Neighborhood Council for a defined period of time.
